Put Your Collar Down!

Miller High Life (which I hear is a bad beer, but I wouldn't really know since I'm strictly a fruity drink or wine drinker myself) has put out the following mock-ad.

Many are calling it the "anti-douchebag" ad.

Personally, I agree with the ad, I only enjoy collars up from the preppy 1980's teen comedies (I will take the jerk 1980's James Spader with collars up and sweater tied around his neck any day).

James Spader, my favorite 80's preppy jerk. He was just too good to hate.

Mental note: must blog about 1980's James Spader!

How to get photographed by The Sartorialist

I naturally assume everyone is familiar with the uber popular blog, The Sartorialist. If you aren’t, The Sartorialist is a fashion photography blog, where the author, Scott Schuman takes photos people he finds interesting and fashion forward on the street.

I love checking out the Sartorialist site, so I can steal ideas on how to dress “cool”. Sometimes I wonder what percentage of the people are “real” and what percentage are models - because, first everyone looks ridiculously attractive in his photos and second it would take too much effort to look that hip and trendy every day.

But then again, most of his shots are taken in Paris, NYC, and Milan where I hear it’s mandatory to look good at all times.

Anyway, Refinery 29 wrote a guide/flow-chart on how to get photographed by the Sartorialist. It’s pretty funny if you are familiar with the blog.

Happily Ever After... NOT!

Cinderella appears to be drowning her troubles at the bar

We all grew up listening to fairy tails which end with "and they lived happily ever after"...

But I think not... and so does photographer Dina Goldstein.
"I began to imagine Disney's perfect princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me," she says, "such as illness, addiction and self-image issues."

Little Red Riding Hood isn't quite so little any more.

Snow White looks a little unhappy with her current situation

Princess Jasmine appears to have joined the war

Rapunzel has lost her hair due to chemotherapy

@mpoppel told all Michael Jackson fans to check the "Eternal Moonwalk"... which I have to admit is pretty cool. I even thought about making my own video and uploading it for about 5 minutes, until I realize that would take effort and decided against it.

I turned 30 years old last month...

Yup... I've crossed over into my 30's and to be totally honest 30% of me isn't cool with it and the other 70% likes being a bona fide adult. Seriously, once you're 30 you can't deny this.

But the weird thing is, I'm 30 years old but I swear my thoughts and many of my desires are exactly the same as when I was 16 years old. But then again, maybe I was just a mature 16 year old?

Anyway, I could drone on about how getting older is messin' with me, but instead read Jason's blog Everything is wrong with me blog about his thoughts on thirty. His writing and "issues" are much funnier than I can be right now.

@nypl (New York Public Library) told me to "Get Your Gay On!" by checking out their fabulous online exhibition commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

Mattachine Society of New York. "Homosexuals Are Different . . ." Poster, 1960s. NYPL, Manuscripts and Archives Division, Mattachine Society of New York Records.

Would you like a slice of my notebook?

The blog Oh? brought these cute notebooks to my attention.
Taking notes can be super delicious, by using the Sliced Bread//Notebook. The first step requires a delicious notebook to hold everything together. It is a 12 slices/notebook set which has been packaged for convenience. Each delicious slice has number on it. (1 to 12) You can use each notebook for the related month.

Aren't these cute? I love them so much BUT I can't figure out where the purchase them.

If you have any leads, let me know.

Dave Chappelle Sighting

I am a big fan of Dave Chappelle. If you stroll down the right side of this blog you will find my "Have You Seen This Man?" image (it's Dave Chappelle).

I think Mr. Chappelle is one of the funniest comedians we have right now and I'm frustrated he's not on tour or have a new comedy special.

But finally Dave came out in the open!

On Tuesday, July 14th rumors were spread via text messages and twitter that Dave was going to do a midnight comedy show out-doors in downtown Portland Oregon. Oh, how I wish I was in Portland that night.

Dave was anticipating around 200 people and showed up (basically alone) with a small amplifier. Of course, thousands of people showed up!

Needless to say Dave was unable to do the show because most of the audience wouldn't be able to hear him. Awww...

But the crowd stayed in a good mood (no arrest).

You can watch the video below (kind of hard to heard with all the shouts from the crowd):

Dave - if you are reading this... come to Philly. Seriously.

Alexander Skarsgard Welcome to Celebrity

My boyfriend (in my head) Alexander Skarsgard has finally made the big time, folks. He is officially on the radar of TMZ and the general paparazzi.

In this video, TMZ catches Alexander checking for a flight and inquires into his opinion of the Twilight movie vampires. He thinks they are cute.

In this video, Alexander speaks to the paps about the death of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. He reminisces about his friend getting the Thriller album.

In this video, TMZ catches Alexander walking down the street and ask him, "What do you think taste better, the girls here in America or the ones in Sweden?" You won't believe what he said, just watch below:

Since Alexander has already checked off a paparazzi following. I'm still waiting for:
  • his actress girlfriend to show up (I hear Jennifer Aniston is single)
  • an interview on the Tonight Show (or any evening talk show - an hour with Oprah would be wonderful)
  • his E! True Hollywood Story to air
  • to Host Saturday Night Live
  • to open a Swedish restaurant in downtown L.A. (with corporation with Planet Hollywood)
  • to adopt a child (preferably from Africa or East Asia)
  • to see his episode of MTV Cribs, how do you say "this is where the magic happens" in Swedish?
  • his rap album to come out (featuring T-Pain and Lil Wayne)
Okay, I was totally joking (can you imagine Alexander rapping with T-Pain?).

I'm actually very happy for Alexander because no matter what you think about TMZ and the paparazzi, you need them for your career.

So today we celebrate his career and mourn the loss of his personal life.
