20 Things Girls Learn From Twilight

1. If a boy is aloof, stand-offish, ignores you or is just plain rude, it is because he is secretly in love with you — and you are the point of his existence.

2.Secrets are good — especially life-threatening ones.

3. It’s OK for a potential romantic interest to be dimwitted, violent and vengeful — as long as he has great abs.

4. If a boy tells you to stay away from him because he is dangerous and may even kill you, he must be the love of your life. You should stay with him since he will keep you safe forever.

5. If a boy leaves you, especially suddenly (while telling you he will never see you again), it is because he loves you so much he will suffer just to keep you safe.

6. When a boy leaves you, going into shock, losing all your friends and enduring night terrors are completely acceptable occurrences — as long as you keep your grades up.

7. It is extremely romantic to put yourself in dangerous situations in order to see your ex-boyfriend again. It’s even more romantic to remember the sound of his voice when he yelled at you.

8. Boys who leave you always come back.

9. Because they come back, you should hold out, waiting for them for months, even when completely acceptable and less-abusive alternative males present themselves.

10. Even though you have no intention of dating an alternative male who expresses interest in you, it is fine to string the young man along for months. Also, you should use him to fix things for you. Maybe he’ll even buy you something.

11. You should use said male to fix things because girls are incapable of anything mechanical or technical.

12. Lying to your parents is fine. Lying to your parents while you run away to save your suicidal boyfriend is an extremely good idea that shows your strength and maturity. Also, it is what you must do.

13. Car theft in the service of love is acceptable.

14. If the boy you are in love with causes you (even indirectly) to be so badly beaten you end up in the hospital, you should tell the doctors and your family that you “fell down the steps” because you are such a silly, clumsy girl. That false explanation always works well for abused women.

15. Men can be changed for the better if you sacrifice everything you are and devote yourself to their need for change.

16. Young women should make no effort to improve their social skills or emotional state. Instead, they should seek out potential mates that share their morose deficiencies and emotional illnesses.

17. Girls shouldn’t always read a book series just because everyone else has.

18. When writing a book series, it’s acceptable to lift seminal source material and bastardize it \with tired, overwrought teenage angst.

19. When making or watching a major feature film, you should gleefully embrace the 20 minutes of plot it provides in between extended segments of vacant-eyed silence and self-indulgent, moaning banter.

20.Vampires — once among the great villains of literature and motion pictures — are no longer scary. In fact, they’re every bit as whiny, self-absorbed and impotent as any human being.

Interesting list, huh? I will admit, I've never read the Twilight books but after reading this list and this (Harry Potter verses Twilight), I have no interest in ever reading these books. I did see the first movie and sadly, couldn't see what all the Twilight craze was all about.

Apparently KitKat has a marketing campaign going on, by painting park benches to look like KitKat candy bars. Nice idea, but I feel bad for the occasional crazy person who will actually take a bite out of one.

This is so cute and I assume delicious. Someone made a cake out of a barcelona daybed (did you know that's what they are called? Me either, but it's true!).

Thigh High Boots... I wish...

I wish I were one of those girls who:
  1. would actually wear these in public
  2. could actually fit them and look attractive
  3. knew how to "properly" walk in very high heels

FYI - Those boots are by Stella McCartney

Harry Potter Should Have Died [A book]

Harry Potter Should Have Died: Controversial Views from the #1 Fan Site by Emerson Spartz and Ben Schoen was released in June 2009. I just heard of it today, thanks to the blog Malfoyy.

MuggleNet is a very popular fansite website for Harry Potter founded by one of the book's authors. I don't visit that site often (or ever), I don't know why, I just never got into it.

Anyway, I think I'm going to purchase this book (it's only $10.17 and $9.99 for the Kindle version) from Amazon.

Everyone who has ever read the books (or seen the movies for that matter) knows Harry SHOULD have died. I mean, he was a kid fighting the most powerful wizard, duh, he should have died countless times! He had a whole gang of adults (Death Eaters) trying to kill him since he was 11 years old! Anyway, it might be fun to read how and why other people think he should have died.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Ninja Assassin & Rain

I saw the film Ninja Assassin this weekend and loved it. It gave me everything I expect from a movie called Ninja Assassin. Not to mention the lead star, Rain was very hot. I think I just developed another crush (don't worry, I still love you Alexander).

Jeong "Rain" Ji-hoon

Did I mention Rain is also a pop singer, dancer, model and actor... yeah he is.

I've been collecting photos of Black people for a while now.

Some images are of famous celebrities, historical figures, advertisements from back in the day, and other things related to Black culture.

I guess you can call it a hobby of mine.

And you view my photo collection if you want... no pressure... via my picasa album.

What the kids from South Park would really look like...

I took this photo of the television a couple years ago. I can't remember which episode of South Park it was but I think the police were looking for the kids and they had a sketch of what they look like. And this is what I saw:

Sadly, the Star Trek Scene It? game remains unopened because I don't have friends geeky enough to play with.

Reading is Fundamental...

Not sure if I ever mentioned this, but I L-O-V-E books. It's just something about seeing them on shelves, laying on a table or in someones' hands! I just love 'em.

Below you will find a couple book related images I found on the interwebs:

Someone actually lives here. I'm so jealous! [via]

I enjoy trolling the random bookshop for books, especially the kooky ones which don't appear to have any type of filing system (that's where you find the jewels). [via]

A theatre was converted into a book store. Tres cute! [via]

Rage the trailer

Back in February I mentioned how my boyfriend (in my head) Jude Law will be playing a transvestite supermodel in an upcoming film.

Well, here's the trailer for the film Rage:

Uncertainty [Upcoming Film]

Cutie Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in the upcoming film Uncertainty. I gotta say the trailer has peaked my interest... BUT it seems like another film in the vein of Eagle Eye (which starred another cutie - Shia LaBeouf) which sucked. Of course I could just be linking the movies in my head because the cell phone seems to be a major plot device.

Anyway this film, unlike Eagle Eye appears to have a love story too (awwww).

Check it out below... looks interesting, right?

David Plouffe and The Audacity to Win

David Plouffe on stage at the Free Library

So I saw David Plouffe, political strategist and chief campaign manger for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign at the Philadelphia Free Library tonight.

His speech was pretty captivating. Even though he didn't reveal great insight (or trade secrets) into the campaign in his lecture, I was still mesmerize with how he discussed the campaign from his point of view, which surprise-surprise wasn't always how the media portrayed. His book came out last Tuesday and I look forward to reading it!

I was able to purchase the book and get it signed! I jokingly said, could you make it out to the best volunteer and he said, "Okay, I'm going to write that!"

Camille - To our best Philly volunteer! - David Plouffe

Check out his book tour list and try to see him if he comes to your town.

Happy Guy Fawkes Day!

Remember remember, the Fifth of November,
The gunpowder, treason and plot.
I know of no reason,
Why the gunpowder treason,
Should ever be forgot.

To learn more about Guy Fawkes or to learn more about the film V for Vendetta (where I first learned about Guy Fawkes).

L-O-V-E [Nat King Cole]

I love the song L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole. I'm sure you've heard it before, movies love to place this on their soundtracks.

Anyway... If this song doesn't bring a smile to your face, I'm afraid you may be a zombie. Seriously.

And here is Nat King Cole singing the song in French! I can't decide which version I like better!

The lyrics (so you can sing along)

L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore can

Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you

trumpet instrumental

L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore can

Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you
Love was made for me and you
Love was made for me and you

I Need Some Chucks...

In the pass couple of days, I've noticed two fashionable people wearing Converse Chucks (Chuck Taylor All-Stars) on The Sartorialist.

I love EVERYTHING about this outfit!

This is her top...

And what she wore on her feet!

And well, I want some... because then I would look just as cool. Right?
