A couple years ago I was in Uganda on vacation and met an Irish lady.
I was enthralled by her accent.
She was the first person from Ireland (born and raised) I ever met and had a real conversation with. I can't recall what we discussed because I was captivated by her accent.
After a while I said, "you have the sweetest accent I ever heard."
She smiled and said, "I actually love your accent."
I was shocked. I never thought of myself as having an accent. I mean, I'm American.
But those few words made me feel really good... I felt exotic.
It was nice.
