Last month I learned about this cool project from The Rumpus, called simply, Letters In The Mail. It's a subscription service ($5 per month) where you receive letters in the mail from various famous people (mostly authors I believe). As you know (or maybe you don't) I love getting mail (sans bills) so this was right up my alley!
Yesterday, I got an email saying they were renewing my subscription and I was like, "Hold up! I never received a letter!" So I check my P.O. Box today and look at what I found:
Three letters! From Aimee Bender, Padma Viswanathan, and Rick Moody. The letters are all very different and interesting, Aimee even added drawings (very cute by the way). All authors provided their addresses, so I guess I can write them back... and who knows they might write back!
The only thing I didn't realize when I joined this subscription (probably because I got too excited and over-looked this technical detail) is that all the letters will be photo-copied and mailed to subscribers. I don't know why I thought I would get individual personalized letters, but hey, I'm not complaining. I feel like I'm just part of a secret mailing list.
Anyway, if you like getting mail... sign up too!
