"When children have nothing to do now, they immediately switch on the TV, the computer, the phone or some kind of screen. The time they spend on these things has increased.
But children need to have stand-and-stare time, time imagining and pursuing their own thinking processes or assimilating their experiences through play or just observing the world around them."
- Dr. Teresa Belton
I totally agree with this. I can remember being "bored" as a kid and when that happened I did crazy things around my house, like turned my bed into a fort, or tried to find new hiding places to jump out and scare my parents, or stared out the window and day dreamed about all the cool things I could do if my life wasn't so boring... but the key thing is, during those "bored" times my imagination was allowed to roam free... and that is when the magic happens folks.
